BISHOP DAVID OYEDEPO BLASTS SANUSI

The recent statement credited to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Lamido Sanusi, calling for the scrapping of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has continued to generate heated debates from religious leaders as the senior pastor of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, Gideon Oyedepo has declared that he had no right to call for the scrapping of the Christian body.
Oyedepo, who is the head pastor of Winners Chapel of Life Camp branch in Abuja stated this during the thanksgiving service to commemorate the second year anniversary of the branch. Faulting Sanusi’s statement yesterday he said: “Sanusi is not God. He can’t call for the scrapping of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).”Read on after the cut.

“Nobody can scrap CAN. The government is an institution established by God, therefore, they can’t scatter God’s agenda for Nigeria. CAN is a forum where Christians meet to deliberate on how the work of God must move forward. So, I can’t see an ordinary man asking for the scrapping of the body of Christ. CAN will get back on its feet.
There’s no way humans don’t have disagreement,” he added. The second year anniversary of the branch which coincided with the end of the 21 days fasting of the church worldwide was used as an avenue by the pastor and members to pray for peace in Nigeria. The Fasting and Prayer event, which started on January 7, 2013, according to the founding Bishop of the church, David Oyedepo was a divine instruction from God.
Most members who spoke to Daily Sun recounted how their lives had been transformed since the event started. During the sermon, Pastor Oyedepo charged the congregation to always imbibe the habit of praying, as that would help them grow in faith. He listed some benefits of praying and fasting to include unlimited favour from God, breakthroughs, protection from God against evil people, among others.
“Fasting and praying secure your posterity in life,” he concluded. “Fasting and prayer is designed for your profiting,” the clergy declared. “Fasting is a spiritual exercise that is profitable to your soul. It’s not a sign of punishment.” (culled from sunnewsonline.com)
