MARGARET THATCHER DIES

Britain's greatest post-war Prime Minister, Baroness Thatcher has died this morning. This happened as a result of stroke.
Her death was confirmed by her children, Sir Mark and Carol.
Famously known as The Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher governed Britain from 1979 to 1990.
She was Britain's first female Prime Minister and played a major role in transforming Britain's economy.She would also be remembered for the  retaking of the Falks Islands, The British South Atlantic territory invaded by Argentina in 1982, after which she declared "we have ceased to be a nation in retreat."
Her spokesman, Lord Bell had this to say "It is with great sadness that Marl and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning. A further statement will be made later."
Originally a research chemist before becoming a barrister, Thatcher was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Finchley in 1959. Edward Heath appointed her Secretary of State for Education and Science in his 1970 government. In 1975 Thatcher defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership election and became Leader of the Opposition, as well as the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom. She became Prime Minister after winning the 1979 general election.
She died at age 87.
