She's the face of Maybelline, and posed for Victoria's Secret and Gap as
well as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. But while Jessica
White's career may be hot, it seems her sex life is not.
The
27-year-old, originally from Buffalo, New York, has dated stars such as
Sean Penn in the past, but elected to take a vow of celibacy a year ago.
In
a new interview, she explained why she made the decision after
splitting from her ex (she does not specify whether this is Mr Penn or
not), and that while she is seeing someone else now, they do not
'connect physically'.
She told Essence.com: 'After so many letdowns
and the relationship with my ex, and I knew I really didn’t want to
continue making the same mistakes anymore.'
She explained that a
woman should learn to trust a man before taking the next step with them
and it was important to question his motives.
'I don’t want my
daughters to grow up the way that I grew up. I want them to actually see
mommy in a fulfilled relationship that’s amazing for her.'
But when Miss White's vow of celibacy was first reported earlier this month, her ideals were misunderstood.
'I
never said that I’m going to wait until marriage,' she explained. 'I
said it would be a man that I actually know is going to put a ring on my
finger... People took that out of context. I said the next man that I
sleep with hopefully will be my husband. That’s what I said and I meant
that.'
She added that she was in love with somebody at the moment, though she wouldn't reveal who it was.
She
revealed: This guy I actually really, really, really care about. I
think he’s the first man that I’ve actually ever been able to be myself
around... I don’t really know where the relationship is going to go, but
I can tell you he is my best bud and I hope that we stay tight like we
are now.'
She said in the interview that she expected her future
husband to be hard-working and not emasculated by a strong woman like
her. But she wasn't expecting the perfect package.
'You know men mess
up,' she said. 'Women create this big illusion in their head that the
man they’re going to be with is going to be perfect. Nobody’s going to
be perfect and people are going to let you down. The only thing that you
can hope for is someone that’s going to be honest with you.'
