FACEBOOK TO BUY WHATSAPP FOR $19bn

A 'like' sign stands at the entrance of Facebook headquarters May 18, 2012 in Menlo Park, California
Facebook has agreed to buy instant messaging service WhatsApp for $19bn (£11bn), in a move that stands to radically redraw the competitive landscape of Silicon Valley.
The deal gives Facebook access to the 450 million people who use WhatsApp’s service every month, effectively turning one of its biggest potential threats into a valuable ally.
It will also help Facebook cement its position at the heart of users’ lives, and will reinforce its standing with younger users, who have been drifting away from the social network in favour of WhatsApp and other instant messaging services.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and chief executive, said the two companies would work together “to make the world more open and connected”. “WhatsApp is on a path to connect 1bn people. The services that reach that milestone are all incredibly valuable.”
Jan Koum, the Ukranian chief executive and co-founder of WhatsApp, added that he was “excited and honoured” to be joining Facebook. "WhatsApp's extremely high user engagement and rapid growth are driven by the simple, powerful and instantaneous messaging capabilities we provide.”

Wow....what a buy. Lets he how it turns out.

i thought it's only private firm dat do ask for this kind of age bracket and protocols..... 24 yrs, 2:1,etc. Condering d educational sector of d country, d strik: ASUU strike, NASU strike, Internal strike, NO schl fees NO lecture strike (like EKSU own) and d likes. This is unfair. Imagine NSE! How many pple (we d children of d average ones) do graduated and aslo being finished his/her NYSC program on or before 24-yr old.
I'm very sure that God almighty will raise a curse upon you all that are doing this.

This is unfair, l think both the public and private sectors in Nigeria should think and have second thought on stringent criteria and conditions given to job seekers. l guess this job adverts are fomalty, when you are asking for age 24 by Dec and 2.1, what about those that left school some years ago and yet to be employed with good grades? Are they not eligible?
